#77–Piecing Together a Broken Relationship

We all dream of that perfect friend. The one who’s always there, who lets us be ourselves, who never lets us down. Some of us are even lucky enough to find that friend…and are hurt the most when that friend fails us.
Maybe you’ve had that happen, and you can’t get over it. Or maybe you’re the one who messed everything up, and can’t admit it. Either way, researchers at Harvard Medical School found that bad blood = bad health. Even if you’re perfectly cordial to each other, the mental presence of a grudge causes major stress throughout your body.
The research says that failing to give or receive forgiveness contributes to heart disease, hormone imbalance, high blood pressure, muscular tension, and even chronic back pain.
It’s not worth the toll on your health to stay mad! Your body is asking you to either reconcile or get over it. With people of goodwill, there can be a big payoff in working through past pain. With people who are simply untrustworthy, it works best to accept that and invest your emotional energy with people you can trust.
For five points right now, tell us about a time when forgiving was really hard for you. Did you try to reconcile? How did it turn out?
Remember, thought into action = peace
