Psychologists have found that those who only disclose their intentions to a select few are statistically more likely to achieve their goals, than those who made them public. Telling everybody about your intentions gives a premature sense of completeness.
When we randomly share with anyone about how we’re going to lose weight, or pursue a promotion, we end up letting the urgency fizzle away.
The trick is to share your plan with a few tried-and-true advocates. Being selective and thoughtful helps build the “pressure” in a healthy way.
