Education Is Something You Do

I was reading about a book called, The New Global Student by Maya Frost. She is a mom, and she and her husband decided to give their four daughters an amazing international education. They took off in 2005 and sold their home in Oregon and moved to Semway New Mexico, which she says is not mandatory. All four daughters graduated college around the age of 20. None of them had to take the SAT or ACT. They all were involved in high immersion foreign exchange learning, and earned, when they were younger high school and college credit all at the same time. Now they all have very interesting jobs, and live in very interesting cities around the world. They’re in their early 20’s and have really gained a thirst for learning. What she seems to have accomplished is to help their girls understand that education isn’t something you earn, but is something you do. The bottom line is, there was no bottom line. They did this without going into any debt. That sounds like something all young students and their parents should consider.
